Apple Watch Not Alerting When You Leave Your iPhone Behind?
If your Apple Watch doesn't alert you when you move away from your iPhone, don't immediately assume something is broken. Several settings and environmental factors can affect separation alerts.

Check these five things
Bluetooth
Check that Bluetooth and the normal connection between your devices are working.
Wi-Fi and connectivity
Some functions may depend on network connectivity.
Location Services
Features within Find My may rely on location-related settings.
Apple Watch notifications
Make sure the relevant notifications haven't been disabled.
App permissions
If you're using a third-party separation app, verify that the permissions it requires are enabled.

Distance isn't always predictable
Wireless range isn't a fixed number. Walls, doors, buildings, interference and device conditions can all affect connectivity. Don't rely on the assumption that your devices will disconnect at exactly the same distance every time.

Test before relying on it
Try a controlled test in a safe location. Leave your iPhone in one place, wear your Apple Watch, gradually move away and observe what happens. This gives you a better idea of how your particular environment behaves.
If you use Phone Guardian
If Phone Guardian isn't alerting you, also check the following:
- Bluetooth and notifications are allowed, and the app has been opened on both iPhone and Apple Watch
- You aren't inside a Safe Zone (alerts are turned off inside Safe Zones)
- Monitoring isn't paused
- The alert grace period (a short wait that prevents false alarms) isn't set too long
- You're on the latest version from the App Store
- Apple Watch power management can delay alerts when the app is closed. Keeping the monitoring screen visible, like a watch face, is the most reliable setup
